Remote Working in the Triangle: New Retreat, Swag and More

Happy May, co-remote workers of the Triangle! And hello after a bit of a hiatus from this newsletter. I hope you've all been enjoying the separate Thrive Remotely newsletter put out every week by our parent group, with all sorts of resources and musings on how to thrive in your life as a remote professional. This Triangle-specific newsletter will be a bit less frequent as we put more time into that one, but we'll still pop in regularly with news, events and anything else relevant to remote workers in the Triangle. And after our break, we've got a lot to share in this edition, so read on! New Retreat: We're heading back to Asheville!Last year, we had such a good time at our co-working retreat in Asheville that we've decided to head back this year, from July 16th-20th, and once again the delightful Lazy Tiger Hostel is hosting us. And for the first time, we're opening the trip to all our Thrive Remotely sister chapters around the region (which currently includes Asheville, Charlotte, Wilmington, Greenville and Knoxville), as well as any remote workers/digital nomads more broadly who'd like to join. This will be our 4th 'co-working retreat' -- a chance to get out of town, work as needed in a co-working space, and go out and play the rest of the time with awesome fellow remote workers. Exact activities will be decided closer to the trip but we'll again definitely have a party at a local brewery to mingle with members of our Asheville sister group AVL Digital Nomads, as well as do the gamut of incredible activities this digital nomad hub of the South has to offer. We got swag!Our parent group Thrive Remotely has been kind enough to hook us up with some sweet merch. We got shirts, hats, coffee mugs, stickers, notebooks....all sorts of stuff you can use to signal others while you're out at coffee shops that you're DTC (Down to Co-work)! We've got stuff in all sizes and colors, so shop around, and find something that suits you. If you enjoy our events, this newsletter, our Slack community, or in any way have benefited from our group, please consider buying something to help support us. This group is a labor of love, but love doesn't pay the bills unfortunately. Between Meetup, other web hosting fees, and a number of other expenses that crop up, this group has put me several thousand dollars in the hole since we began in 2021, and the bills keep coming. So buying some of our merch is a great way to help ease the burden AND get some rocking gear in the process that will spread the word of our group and help us recognize each other when we're out and about. Survey: Help us improve the groupWe want to get a sense of what's working for you with our events, what we could do to improve them, and any other thoughts you have on how our humble group can do more for you in your remote life.
